Prof. Paul Whitty


Director of SARU; Professor of Music & Researcher; Co-Director of audiograft.

Paul Whitty is a composer and researcher. He is a founder of the Sonic Art Research Unit (SARU) at Oxford Brookes and co-directs audiograft festival.Recent projects include this is what happens when nothing happens (2015) commissioned by MWLTH and broadcast on BBC Radio 3; and two contributions to grist (Metier 2014). Collaborative projects include The Swimmer – A True Story a film and installation developed with novelist Roma Tearne and exhibited at the 54th Venice Biennale (2011). At present Paul is continuing to intervene in pre-existing contexts including scores, places and sound-making objects. He prefers to use notes that have previously been used by someone else.  Website
