Patrick Farmer – Field Recording Archive #7. Berkshire Pig

7. We might say that field recording is a lens of listening, and as such, it resides in temporality, by necessity. Otherwise it burns that which it amplifies. Reducing a field recording to a point in sound, we risk diluting colours, people, animals, weather, plants, and buildings. Place is a presence, a choreography of moving relations. Instead of asking, what is this place, we might wonder, where is this place?

A recording of Berkshire pigs and other animals, made in Churchstoke, Powys, Wales.
